Evoora
RTSBrowserEnvironment ArtEarly career
Plugin-less real-time strategy browser game — environment art in a very early era of web 3D where every polygon had to earn its keep.
The story
- Before WebGL was a reliable baseline. Evoora was a real-time strategy game that had to run in the browser without any plugin help, which at the time was a technically uncomfortable place to ask a game to live. The environment art budget was tight enough that every asset had to double as terrain, obstacle and silhouette.
Technical highlights
- Low-polygon budgets enforced asset-by-asset.
- Environment art designed to read clearly as both functional RTS gameplay space and visual composition.
- Early experience with the browser-3D rendering constraints that would later become WebGL norms.
Outcome
Shipped. Technically of its era, but formative.
